Patriot Golf Day offers activities nationwide over Labor Day Weekend

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — For the third year, thousands of golf facilities nationwide will participate in Patriot Golf Day over Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 4-7), collecting donations and raising awareness for the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Patriot Golf Day, jointly supported by The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association, is the primary fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. More than 550 educational scholarships have been awarded by the Foundation in the last two years.
Golfers are asked to donate at least $1 for each round of golf at participating public facilities, while private facilities will accept donations. Non-golfers can also participate by making a donation to the foundation at FoldsofHonor.com. As a proud supporter and Official Card of Patriot Golf Day, American Express will match donations made using an American Express Card during the weekend to support the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Major Dan Rooney, a PGA Professional and USGA Member from Broken Arrow, Okla., created Patriot Golf Day in 2007. Rooney has served three tours of duty in Iraq as an F-16 Fighter pilot in the 125th Fighter Squadron of the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
“I am very proud to say that my fellow PGA Professionals and USGA members have full-heartedly answered the call to support Patriot Golf Day and together, we are making dreams come true for the families of those who have paid the ultimate price by helping them fund their education,” Rooney said.
PGA Professionals have been instrumental in raising more than $3 million in the last two years by hosting Patriot Golf Day at their facilities.

American Express will match each donation made on a valid American Express Card to the Folds of Honor Foundation during Patriot Golf Day weekend up to a maximum total of $100,000. Matching contributions from American Express are not tax deductible for Cardmembers.
